INFORMATION FOR NEW PATIENTS.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS.

An osteopathic consultation will take the following form;

You will be asked about the pain or difficulty you are having in detail. You will also be asked about your medical history, and this will all be recorded on computer along with your personal details. This information is never divulged, unless with your permission to your doctor.

You will be examined to determine the nature of your complaint. This will usually require you to undress to underwear in order to consider your posture and any altered biomechanics. If you are uncomfortable with this please state this clearly so that other arrangements can be made. Please note that I cannot provide a chaperone but any patient can bring along a friend or relative.

Osteopathic treatment is a “hands-on” therapy. You are likely to receive massage to the affected area and some gentle stretching of the joints. You may also receive a manipulation of a joint which gives a popping sound.

Osteopathy is a very safe therapy and should not cause discomfort although some patients can be a little tender the day following treatment.
